Antique and vintage trunks aren't exactly restored, they are refinished. Restoration would require that the item in question be brought back to its original condition. This is often a practical impossibility. The exterior canvas or embossed metal is often stripped away due to poor condition and very often the interior had wallpaper or cardboard inserts that are too far gone to be any use. On the other hand, every trunk in this gallery has been refinished to be as close to the original finish as reasonably possible and in most cases embellished a little to make the trunk look more attractive. For these reasons the refinishing process is more like a restoration rather than a refurbish or refinish.
