Found in a delapidated state, much work has been done to bring it back to life.
It has been painted with a metalic hammered blue paint.
The brass hardware was corroded and has been stained with a walnut stain and coated with polyurethane. This finish is more than 10 years old and still looks good. It is also a more closer match to the replacement hasp lock.
The handles have been replaced with a heavy gauge leather. The handle caps have been replaced with reproduction ones with an antique brass finish.
Originally the trunk did not have casters. The ones here are rated for about 40 pounds a piece.
Notice how the brass plated banding rivets have been individually polished.
The top has a couple of imperfections, but otherwise the paint is in very good shape. The trunk has been coated with an acrylic wax to protect the finish.
The lock states it is a seven lever lock, but in reality it is probably only four levers. Locks like this are inexpensive reproductions from India and are not of the best quality.
The interior has been stained with a walnut stain and coated with hand rubbed polyurethane. The tips of the nails have been polished.
