Notice how there is not an "ERIE PA" molded into the fryer. This is because it was made after Griswold went out of business in 1957. Probably made by Wagner who bought much of their equipment and molds.
This is what it originally looked like before cleaning it up. Minor rust seen here not to be confused with heat damage that would look a little more pink than the orange rust seen here.
The interior is ultra smooth and overall the fryer is considered a high quality piece. The interior is 3 inches deep.
This is what it originally looked like before cleaning it up. Took four passes with oven cleaner to remove the old finish.

1958 Griswold No. 80 Chicken Fryer Size 8
Weight : 5 lbs 1.9 oz.
A collection of images from a Jet Age (> 1952) cast iron fryer. Not exactly a collector's item since it was made after Griswold's era and also because it is incomplete. The lid for this fryer is actually a more shallow frying pan that hooks into the opposite side of the handle to act as a lid.
The fryer in this gallery is an "SBL" pan, meaning "Small Block Logo" (1939-1957). Have dated after 1957 when Griswold went out of business and probably made by Wagner who bought molds and other equipment during that time period. Sometimes these types of cast iron pieces are called "Wagwolds".
The flash from the camera makes the fryer look brighter than it normally would. You can zoom in on the images if you mouse over them. During autoplay zoom is disabled. Shrinking the browser window will shrink its contents possibly making it easier to view the gallery.
Valued in the range of $80 - $100.
